Hosted by Todd of Kokomo Toys and planned by Tolan. This is our next meet. Spread the word. It will be a heck of a time!!

There will be food. Not sure if we're grilling out or just be ordering pizza. BYOB and make sure you bring Joes to sell, trade and put in the door prize pool.

More details to follow...

DIRECTIONS:

Address:
1244 E. Morgan Street
Kokomo, Indiana 46901
Immediately next door to a Dollar General

http://kokomotoys.com/directions.php

From Indy and points south, the best route is to simply go up US-31 (Meridian Street) to Kokomo, turn left on Morgan St.

From Dayton and points east, Google points out a couple of routes: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... F8&t=h&z=9

From Chicago, Lafayette and points northwest, Google points these out as a couple of routes: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... F8&t=h&z=8

From Terre Haute and points west of Indy, take I-70 E to 465 N. Go all the way around 465 to the northside, exit on Meridian St./US-31 and proceed north to Kokomo - follow the Indy directions from above.

If there is another place you are coming from, just hit http://maps.google.com and plug in your starting point and the address above as your end point.

In the next day or so we will come up with start time.

Man! Most other Saturdays I am "busy" but could get away, this one I am out of state! :doh Todd and Amber have a great store and anyone who hasn't been needs to get over there, sounds like a blast, wish I could be there...

Parking is on the side of the street and across the street in the empty parking lot.

Also, made a thread on the Tank about it here: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-t ... ost1803999

This is jusssst close enough for a drive up. So Captain Cosmos Collectibles might be there?

Aside from "getting together" I don't see much actual information. Is there anything we need to know?

Would you like to see a F-14Tomcat, the inspiration for the XP-14F Sky Striker? Would you like to see an A-10 “warthog”, the inspiration for the Cobra Rattler? Would you like to sit in a F-4C cockpit or an UH-1H Huey helicopter pilot's seat? For those interested the Grissom Air Museum has all this plus much more. Including, but not limited to, “The “Miss Liberty Bell” a B-17 super fortress listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a C-47 Skytrain painted in WWII Normandy invasion colors like those that dropped the 82nd & 101st Airborne on June 6th 1944, a B-25 Mitchell like Jimmy Doolittle used in his “60 seconds over Tokyo” bombing raid, and a B-58 Hustler the world’s first supersonic bomber, one of only 8 left in the world.

For those attending the meeting on the 24th, I’ve secured a dollar off admission for those interested in taking a side trip that day. The Grissom Air Museum is only 12 miles north of Kokomo Toys on US 31, adjacent to Grissom Air Reserve Base. The museum is open 10-4pm Saturday. Those wishing to get the reduced rate need only to ask for a rack card with a dollar off sticker available at the meeting.

Saturday has regularly scheduled tour, included with admission, that takes place at 2 pm. This short tour goes over to “AREA 51” the museum’s hanger located on Grissom Air Reserve Base. Inside the hanger is the once TOP SECERT D-21 drone, a Burt Rutan designed VariViggen, a hand built reproduction of the Wright Flyer, as well as a TARPS (Tactical Airborne Reconnaissance Pod System) pod for the F-14 Tomcat.

Normally an air museum wouldn't sway me that much. But it just so happens I need some reference photo's of a B-17. Talk about timing.

So if the museum is open 10 to 4, what time is the meeting? :?

I wasn't trying to take away from the meeting. However 12 hours is a long time to sit and talk Joe with out a break. Todd had brought up both the Museum and Flea market on Hiss Tank as other things to do that day. I was only trying to get a Joe related side trip a little cheaper for those interested.

Goofateer, I look forward to meeting another fellow Trencher. Hope to see you there.

While most of the information in the link is correct, that last paragraph information is about 15 years old. The B-17 and the other Gate Guards of the former Grissom Air Force Base has been move to the current location located next to US 31 off of 1000 West Hoosier Blvd. The is an admission cost. Museum opens 10 am and closes 4 pm, but once in the air park you can stay until dark.

Anything I should bring?

Thanks Rog....that reminds me. I'll just copy and paste what I put on HT.

Unofficial COILCon! ;-)

Thanks for Tolan for planning this and thanks to Todd and his wife for hosting this. It should be a GREAT time.

A couple of things to keep in mind for the day:

Todd's normal operating hours are 9am to 5pm, so we will be there the entire time he is open. Please be respectful of the business during these times.

Children are welcome.

BYOB - I will.

Bring cash as the business does not have a CC machine. The best way to thank Todd for hosting this is to buy something from him.

Bring pieces of your collection to show and share.

Bring stuff to sell and trade. Todd also buys Joes.

Bring something for the prize pool. Everyone who brings something will win something (blind draw). Suggestions would be anything Joe or Joe-related.

Bring something for the kids - (extra) VvV and old dollar store single pack stuff is perfect for this. (We'll enter the kids into a separate drawing. Ideally everyone will get something, but if not, we'll have to scramble. Anyone have any idea how many kids may be there??)

Parking is available next door at the Dollar General or across the street.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM sudelaya (Todd), Tolan, or myself.

I look forward to seeing you all. It should be a great time!
